HIPAA Shredder Systems
Since the enactment of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the second quarter of 2003, the security of documents inside hospitals has been brought to the forefront. HIPAA affects more than hospitals because businesses that provide legal, accounting, actuarial, consulting and financial services to healthcare businesses are affected. Because of HIPAA, the destruction of sensitive documents by shredding has become a necessity. Outside contractor cost for document destruction for hospitals is very costly and since the ultimate responsibility for privacy is the responsibility of the hospital, most hospital compliance officers believe that onsite centralized shredding facilities is the most cost effective and secure way for hospitals to dispose of confidential paper.
The Moss paper shredding system is designed for a hospital central paper reduction facility and is fully automatic once the paper is dumped or conveyed into the shredder hopper assembly. The shredded paper is automatically discharged onto the conveying system by an exit auger. The conveyor system then transfers the shredded material to a compactor/container or storage bin that is located either in or out of the shredding room. Herein you will find a very economical way to dispose of paper within a hospital facility.
